Surveyor Says! The NSPS Podcast

This episode of “Table A Talk” covers the current schedule of the process of review and updating of the latest ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey Minimum Standards. NSPS Executive Director Curt Sumner and Gary Kent, the chair of the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey Committee, also discuss recent conversations regarding Item 19, Offsite Easements, and how these types of easements are intended to be addressed. Today’s episode of “Future Focus” is our first face-to-face group podcast because the important topic. Our guests today are from the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association (IPLSA) and have organized a task force focusing on workforce development, and more specifically, an apprenticeship program for technicians. We sat down during the recent IPLSA Annual conference to talk about the program after a well-received panel discussion earlier in the program. NSPS Executive Director Curt Sumner and Gary Kent, the chair of the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey Committee, explain the general difference with the US Survey foot and the new “foot” as previously defined by the international community. They also discuss the standard in relationship to the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey requirements.
